White Space Suit photo hand-signed with a black sharpie by NASA Astronaut and Apollo 13 commander James Lovell.
This interesting bundle was produced as part of the marketing for the Apollo 13 movie. The auction also includes a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Morgan Fisher (president of the Fisher Space Pen Company) and an Apollo 13 mission patch – all of which were part of a swag package for the movie opening.
Jim Lovell, born March 25, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, was a retired American astronaut, naval aviator, and mechanical engineer, best known for his role as commander of the Apollo 13 mission in 1970, which safely returned to Earth after a critical spacecraft failure. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Lovell flew four space missions, including Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8 (the first manned mission to orbit the Moon), and Apollo 13, logging over 715 hours in space. His leadership and calm decision-making during the Apollo 13 crisis, alongside his crew and mission control, earned him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Lovell’s career also included over 7,000 hours of flight time as a test pilot, and he later became a public speaker and co-author of the book Lost Moon, which inspired the 1995 film Apollo 13. He passed away on August 7, 2025, in Lake Forest, Illinois, at the age of 97.
